My approach to homes is best described as thoughtful design and renovations. I heir on the side of restoring over “gutting”, and bring the same thoughtfulness and care to any project I get to be a part of - whether it’s a one-time consult, single room refresh, or a full scale renovation. 

I believe a home should be a reflection of those who live in it and exude feelings of peace and comfort. My goal is to come alongside clients to create spaces that reflect their unique personality, story, and lifestyle by blending both beauty and functionality. I value furnishings and character in homes with a [hi]story (history, and therefore, a story :), and value quality craftsmanship, materials, and character, over trends that come and go. I strive to combine both old and new, using quality materials and timeless styles, that can be enjoyed for years to come.

I believe it makes us better versions of ourselves when we are surrounded by beauty and our homes function & flow well. We experience more peace and joy in our daily lives when we enjoy our home environment. It fosters memory-making, creativity, productivity, and community, because w'e’re freer to focus on loved-ones, open our doors and invite others in, or go out into the world a little lighter.

I follow a long line of custom home builders (both my dad and grandfather were custom home builders) and my love for creating quality, thoughtfully designed homes, runs deep. I’ve been renovating and revamping spaces since my middle school days, where I spent summers working on our playhouse, and could frequently be heard pushing furniture around. I started Blue Barn and Cottage, LLC in 2019, after I began sharing our own home on Instagram @Bluebarnandcottage and managed and designed a few full-home renovations to sell. Whether simply using what you already have to revamp a space, decorating a blank wall or mantle, or renovating an entire house, I love it all!
